The name of every one of our plants tells a story: where it occurs, its habitat, what it looks like, who discovered it, what it can be used for, whether it is edible or poisonous, and many other things.
This booklet was first produced in 2005, authored by Hans, Annie & Mark Wapstra with Louise Gilfedder. Since then, the content has been kept up-to-date by Hans & Mark Wapstra (and in recent years by Mark) with changes in the Tasmanian Herbarium’s Census of vascular Plants of Tasmania reviewed annually. New/altered names are provided direct to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania’s Natural Values Atlas. However, numerous people have requested a hard copy. While we recognise that there will always be changes, this edition reflects the contemporary state-of-affairs and should remain relatively stable for most species for a long period.
